1. Course Description
Legal English is built for lawyers, paralegals, in-house counsel, and advanced law students who work with English-language contracts, international clients, or jurisdictions where English is the working language of the court. It is precise, formal, and unforgiving — and this course teaches it as both a language and a discipline.
We cover legal vocabulary by area (contract, corporate, civil litigation, employment, IP), the language of contract drafting and review, the conventions of legal writing (memos, opinions, briefs, letters of demand), and the spoken English of negotiation, client interviews, and court or tribunal advocacy.
Throughout the course you'll work with redacted real-world contracts and case files, draft and revise your own legal documents, and practise oral advocacy in mock client meetings and hearings. The result is a working legal English you can put on a CV and use on the job from day one.
