English for Travel & Tourism

A practical, scenario-based course for hospitality and tourism professionals — and for travellers preparing for international trips. Walk through every step of a typical journey (airports, hotels, restaurants, tours, emergencies) and learn the specific phrases that turn a transactional interaction into a five-star experience.

1. Course Description

English for Travel & Tourism is a practical, scenario-based course for people who use English on the move — travellers, hotel and lodge staff, tour guides, drivers, restaurant teams, and anyone working in Kenya's vibrant hospitality and tourism sector.

The course works through every step of a typical travel journey: airports and check-in, hotel arrivals and front-desk language, restaurants and ordering, giving directions, leading tours, handling complaints, and dealing with emergencies. You'll learn the specific phrases professionals use — and the ones that turn a transactional interaction into a five-star experience.

By the end of the course, hospitality staff will feel confident handling international guests, and travellers will be ready to navigate any English-speaking destination with ease.

2. Key Highlights
  • Travel Vocabulary — The everyday vocabulary of moving around: transport, bookings, money, time, directions, and weather.
  • Hotel Communication — Front-desk language for check-in/out, guest requests, complaints, recommendations, and small talk that builds rapport.
  • Tour Guiding Skills — How to introduce a site, tell a story about it, manage a group, and handle questions confidently and warmly.
  • Cultural Awareness — Friendly cross-cultural cues — what international guests expect, and small details that shape their experience.
  • Emergency Phrases — Clear, calm language for medical issues, lost belongings, security incidents, and other unexpected moments.
3. Who Is It For

Hospitality and tourism professionals (front-of-house, guides, drivers) plus travellers preparing for international trips.
